The Body

The body breathes in chaos
Breathes out love
All at once order and discordant noise
The shape of bones barely covered by skin
The inhalation whole
The exhalation halved
We lie on the cool tiles
Try to make sense of the map
The ridges and bumps
The story unfurled
Fingers twitching
Head aching
The body breathes in chaos
Breathes out love
All at once order and discordant noise.

  2. Perhaps this transformation--what we inhale and exhale--is the entire purpose of having a body!!? Moving.

  3. Love the lines
    'he body breathes in chaos
    Breathes out love'
    and
'Try to make sense of the map
    The ridges and bumps
The story unfurled' - we seem to be on the same wavelength!

  4. I love the lines "the body breathes in chaos, breathes out love" so much. And maybe we can try the reverse as well. Smiles. Sending some love your way, Jae. Breathe it in.

  9. As I read this Jae, being a writer of romantic verse, I found it quite inspiring. Despite the discordant noise, the metaphor of love being breathed out was the key. If only we all could do this the world would be a better place. This is a great poem.
