Fuff

I don’t like this anymore
She cries
Stuck
Stuck
Sticky
On the bathroom floor

We are hyperkinetic
If the world rotates at 30
We are doing 94

It shouldn’t be this hard
I whisper
It shouldn’t be this hard

I wash her face
Our eyes are sick
Queasy
Uneasy
Falling out our sockets

I thought you said it would stop spinning

I lied little cricket
I always lie

We made sandwiches
Packed candy
Caught the bus
Down the yellow brick road
We went
The bumps made us sick

Unruly
Never ending
Relentless

There are no rainbows
No pots of gold
Turns out
You only meet yourself at the end of the road

It shouldn't be this hard
I whisper
It shouldn’t be this hard

I try to stop shaking
I am in more trouble
Then I could ever imagine
And time is running out

Wash the floor
Scour the sink
Take another little drink
Everything is normal see
Sing a song
Place sixpence in a pie
Cook it up
Serve with butter
Sink
Sink

She traces out help in invisible stars

My heart is ticking
Super fast
Blown up tight
Like birthday balloons
Fuff the candles
Happy birthday Rabbit

Shh
We have to be quiet
So nobody knows

Thud
Crash
Fall

What is worse
A silent trip
Or a very loud fall

Violence is golden

It becomes everything
In the absence of anything more

I don’t like this anymore
She cries
Stuck
Stuck
Sticky
On the bathroom floor

I lie
Lie
Face
Down

Floating in the grease
Are words I did not write

PS
Life is beautiful
Come join us…

Spool

I find her in the morning
Unspooled by the bed
She is twisting wildflowers
Around her head
Poppies and dandelions
Diamonds and pearls
Roots
Rots
Summer hot
Breath drizzling
Tears wept
Leaving a trail
Through pillows and sheets

She hears me stir
Do you think there is a medicine
To make us better

I don’t think so little cricket
I think the medicine is what we make it

I lift her up next to me
Feel her shiver and flinch
Like innocence lost
Like the wanton fear
Of the first tunnel
She was thrown down

We mix up
Fix up
Garble our words

Eleven is heaven so they say

She giggles
For one single moment it is alright

She flares her lips
Casts off her coat
How swift the flame
From peak to trough

The first question should always be
How are you
It’s nothing more than manners

And what good are conversations
Stuck behind closed doors
A closed door by its very nature
Makes conversation quite impossible
It means the words will never meet

She is right of course

I let her play in the coastal rip
Quietly fingering pins and glue

Dial back the number
There is an emptiness

Trauma
Bay
Gradual
Reduction

She catches me up

All reductions are gradual
Silly
But not all who reduce us
Make us small

Remember the potion bottle
And silent shoes

My head is bursting
My stomach blown

Pins
Pines
Sore
Soars

I hold her
Until summer
Fades from our veins

Let's wear blue posies on our head
Be saints
Pretend to die

I am made of energy
And my teeth taste like peppermints
And glue

I find her in the morning
Unspooled by the bed
She is twisting wildflowers
Around her head
Poppies and dandelions
Diamonds and pearls

For one single moment we are alright.

Resilient

We lie here

Torn
Taut
Tattered

The can burns cold circles
In my skin

Stuck
Sticky
Sore

Her tongue licks
The small red patch
We have cute cells
They knit together like perils
Pearls
That’s what I said
Perils
I sigh
So very tired

Time
Tick
Tocks

It would be far braver if we stopped
However
Resilience is a rotten core

I doubt there is much left to do
We could label as taboo
She giggles
I like that rhyme
Don’t you

We ring the phone
To find ourselves
We fail miserably

I don't know where reality is
I know it's not in me
Or on me
I can’t hold it in my hand or head

You can hold me though
She gurgles
I wrap her underneath my arm
Yes
I can hold you

Did the Red Queen touch you
Her hand was electric
Not socket strong
Universe strong

She noticed that I flinched
I wanted her to stay
I wanted someone
To hold me safe and tight

Like a prayer
She mumbles
Chocolate skirting the edge of her lips
Falling off the hands of time
Into dreaming

Sleep well little one
Sleep well

I wipe her sticky head
Kiss our frozen bruises

Tomorrow is another day
She says
Before
She

Stops
Drops
Rots

We should have eaten the apple I think
Then we would be over

No pain
No burns
No floor bound trips

We lie here

Torn
Taut
Tattered

Resilience is a rotten core
I think.

Crow

This crow tastes nice
Says Alice
Picking tiny bones
From her teeth
As if the meat were
Sweet as rose buds
We are on the floor again
Swallowing our afternoon fancies
A little up
A little down
Paling into insignificance as we go
You do know the best apology is change
She wipes her face
Quick
Furious
Sweeps
Sometimes I loathe
How much she knows
Sometimes I love her too
My cankerous little thief
You stole my soul
And made me live
She smiles
Brushes her dress
Rises up
Like a shadow
Or a conscience
We can puzzle anything out
The woman on the phone
Says I do not make sense
Of course you don’t silly
You boiled over
Cracked
Erupted
Now you are trying to solve it all
With 99 Cent glue

Fix
Fill
Patch

She giggles and sings
I bet the Queen ordered
Your emotional execution

Do I sell myself for a crown
Or a thorn

A crown silly
Who wants to wear their sins
On their head

The paint sinks
Parks in my gut
Thick as mud
Silences the shimmers and swarms
Squashes the ripples and pleas

Consumes me

All I want is home
And rest

How can you silly
You don’t know how to find it yet

I chew crow bones

Lie
Cheat
Steal

Perhaps for now
That’s the only part of me
That’s real.
