Looking back we feel sad
So many mistakes
Twists and turns
We should have never have
Touched the powder
Alice is forever young
She has had her adventure
Survived the poison
And the cake
I am getting old
Creaking and sore
But there is hope
She whispers
In my ear
As the moon shines
And the stars sparkle
For one moment
I think I can change
And I have had adventures too
Moving from place to place
Playing music
Walking in the hills
The smell of grass and sea
Lingering on my skin
Perhaps now is time to rest
To reflect on the here and now
Dream sweet dreams
And love our life.
" But there is hope she whispers in my ear"-- Jae, Keep that thought. It is never too late for yet one more adventure!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the moon shining and star sparkling moment bringing along with it music, nature and sweet dream. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMaybe instead of looking back we need to just love life. The day we have, the life....
ReplyDeleteI love "but there is hope ... as the moon shines and the stars sparkle..." The beauty of nature is always there for solace. I love your closing lines especially.
ReplyDeleteMemories and regrets go hand in hand, Jae, but there is always hope, and the smell of grass and sea.
ReplyDelete"We should have never have
ReplyDeleteTouched the powder . . ." But the poet, at least, has moved past the powder to an image of play and hope and rest. I like it, I'm trying to be in that place.
