We are going on a road trip
There will be dirt and kisses
Scuffed shoes and bruised toes
The winter moon glitters in the morning sky
We love its stillness
The Earth shuffling through time
For a brief moment we worship the bliss
It is frosty and bleak
Our cheeks are pink
Steam permeates the house
A churning feeling
A surge of power
We know our part
Give the shepherd his milk
The stable is full of lambs
New life moaning and grazing on the hay
There is a new bar of thought
We are moving in reality
Not in our head
We look forward to the kisses most
They glitter and shine too
How we love the moon.
As thought provoking as always. I too look forward to the kisses. Less so sheep's milk.
ReplyDeleteLove the things that glitter here :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a very promising road trip, one that will take you to a destination worth reaching, no matter how many unexpected obstacles you may encounter along the way.
ReplyDeleteI adore this poem. The last line!
ReplyDeleteI love.... "a new bar of thought" maybe a new melody, in reality, not in the head but out loud. Wonderful.
How we love the glittering lady, indeed...
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely trip :)
ReplyDeleteI’ve read quite a few moon poems recently, and written one myself, but I love the fresh air and glitter in this one, Jae, and the ‘dirt and kisses’, especially the ones that glitter and shine too!
ReplyDeleteChristmas a time for reunion, hugs and kisses. Happy Holidays Jae

I love the winter moon glittering in the morning sky. I saw it Friday night and she was stunning, dressed in her best! Love the idea of the earth shuffling through time. "We are moving in reality, not in our head" mkes me wonder where you are headed. Road trips are always fun.
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to hear more of the new bar of thought. I love the glittering moon!
ReplyDeleteI love how you captured the moment of the Earth shuffling through time… What bliss!
ReplyDeleteAnother great write Jae. Once again reading your words put me easily to the scene; that traditional Christmas setting and the way so many of us embrace it as part of ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this stunning piece … For me, it is up there with some of your best work, Jae.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece--I love its rhythm and cadence--just gorgeous writing
