Alice shakes her dress
A kind of bliss
Hair wild and free
She runs down the hole
Licks the blood from her fingers
The music plays
A discordant tune
Sleep comes
Dreams thick and rich
The frost lines the pavement
We wait
Wash our face
Drink coffee in the pale blue light
All an adventure
Alice shakes her dress
A kind of bliss.
This feels like a dream I had last night. Is the dress red? I'm trying to bring bliss and blood together.
ReplyDeleteHope this kind of bliss lasts. There's something about the wild and free hair which can be so joyous and comforting. :-)
ReplyDeleteoh wow - I really love this! It has a surreal yet concrete feel to it. The act of Alice shaking her dress "free" - then sharply contrasted with licking blood off her fingers - and then, a witnessing of this - with something so ordinary, - drinking coffee, and waiting ....
ReplyDeleteI can't really put this into words, but this poem just dances, sparkles - sings its own song with a dazzling effect ... and I just really love it. :)
Alice sounds like she can handle this...
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have Alice as your muse, Jae. I think at poets need that little something extra to be able to write poetry like this.
ReplyDeleteSounds blissful enough to me – in the carefree way of childhood, well-remembered.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right, this is bliss indeed, something so simple, so ordinary. I love this poem!xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteYour poem brought a smile to my face. Thank you
ReplyDeleteBliss and blood, a strange combination......i love the hair being wild and free.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Especially these lines:
ReplyDelete"She runs down the hole
Licks the blood from her fingers"
