The Wall

We hit the wall
A large bump in the night
Stars and cushions collide
We cannot sleep
Frost lines the pavements
Winter is coming
We are ill prepared
Clothes hang on the line
Meals uncooked
All is chaos
A thousand cans line the bed
Yellow and red
We wish for nothing more
A cloud and a dream
We hit the wall
A large bump in the night.

  1. Nothing in life is more frustrating than hitting a wall, whether it's real or imagined.

  2. "A large bump in the night", another scary line for me. Nightmarish. Wall is sometimes like that. I would pray too for a cloud and a dream.

  4. O! THAT wall! I, too, hold out for "a cloud and a dream."

  5. Oh, that wall being a large bump in the night makes it such a helpless situation. Hoping that the wish for "a cloud and a dream" gets fulfilled soon.

  7. That wall. that scary wall. One should hope for a cloud and a dream.

  8. I wish for a cloud and a dream, too. I send you a crunchy leaf-walk on a late September afternoon.

  9. What's to do? (Except, perhaps, write a poem about it.)

  10. I also wrote about the walls that hold us in - but your walls contrast with the comforting, familiar walls in my poem, Jae. That's a powerful phrase 'large bump in the night' and I like the way the 'Stars and cushions collide'.
