What if the flowers were painted blue
And we skipped and tripped through the coming of day
Without a care in the world
Without knowing what will come next
What if we knew
Time
Space
Illusion
The man in the hat came back
He watches from afar
We don't care for his glances any more
We have much work to do
And nobody can disturb us
What if we never finish
That would be good I say
To finish means an end
And I don't want this to end
The coloured bed
All fancy patterns
Sleep
Words
Time
All a delicious jumble waiting to be sorted by shaking hands
What if you left
That would break my heart
I want you to stay here forever
To play a part in my misadventure
To be you
To be me
What if the flowers were painted blue
That would be a very fine thing indeed.
I love how this poem reads Jae. It is a delicious feeling not wanting something you love to end. I noted that Alice was nameless here and was trying to work out which of you was which!
ReplyDeleteBravo! O! You lift me on What if wings!
ReplyDelete"What if we never finish
That would be good I say
To finish means an end
And I don't want this to end . . ." and the best line of all: "a delicious jumble waiting to be sorted by shaking hands"
Thank you.
A delicious jumble of words and thoughts Jae.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there are some things I would like to change in my past - if I could (but how would that affect my present?) - I really wouldn't want my future mapped out for me to see. I think it is the "Without knowing what will come next" that makes life bearable, that said bearable is too strong a word, but I can't bring the right word to mind...

A poem of love and how blessed you are that in spite of everything you still have a poet's heart to give rather than the stone pebbles that rattle around in a lot of rib cages.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a big bunch of painted blue flowers:)
Really nice, loved the first two lines.
ReplyDeleteThis 'man in the hat' seems to be rather sinister to me. But I love "Without a care in the world" attitude. And yes let "Words" flow forever :)
ReplyDeleteVery well said. Wouldn't want it to finish after all, the ongoing process is what gives it life. Through all the misadventures and jumbles, there's something nice to be found like those flowers painted blue.
ReplyDeleteThis is significant: "We don't care for his glances any more". Let him watch from far; we got to live our own existence.

A stream-of-consciousness feel that flows with elegance. Nice!
ReplyDeleteYes, it would be a fine thing indeed!! I love the color blue, along with all the others.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this poem. It is enchanting. Love everything about it. It is a joy to read.
ReplyDeleteAh, to know time and space and illusion... what a wonder that would be, we would be... if we could sort it all out. And get some blued flowers to garnish it all.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that too, Jae, no Alice in this poem but there was the man in the hat, although he doesn't seem to matter any more. I love the contentment that shines through:
ReplyDelete'...we skipped and tripped through the coming of day
Without a care in the world
Without knowing what will come next'
and
'...I don't want this to end
The coloured bed
All fancy patterns
Sleep
Words
Time
All a delicious jumble waiting to be sorted by shaking hands'.
I want you to stay here forever
ReplyDeleteTo play a part in my misadventure... beautiful thoughts.. what if the flowers were blue indeed!
