Then it goes away
With creature
Batten the hatches
Alice is coming to play
Than falling in a dream
Our heads jump up
Hackle cackle tackle
Our passion underground
My belly grows a magic forest
Five six seven
Dancing a storm in the chemical aisle
Electric humming background
Fuzz buzz dust
Please forgive the delay
All is well inside our cell
As long as words will always stay
Writes tomorrow on the wall
We steal her web
Connive and thrive as if we are wise
And well inside
Bad black back
All bad things must go one day
Then it goes away.
What does this mean? Are you losing power, because of the rain storm? Yes, all bad things must go one day…and let's be here to see them go….xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very good idea..thank you kindly Annell - no actual power cuts.. just electrical storms in the head xo
DeleteHere is a nightmare disrupting what we may feel is logical and pleasant, and yet we are drawn into a fascination with its idiosyncracies. The electricity fits...the moment of electric shock...and then it goes away. An intriguing poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly Gemma...you can sugarcoat a nightmare but essentially it is rotten underneath I suppose..
DeleteNo, your words will always stay Jae. I like how when your writing changes either turning to the right or the left the reader must look for a guide book to interpret the message. I loved the line "Connive and thrive as if we are wise", we all do this in our own way. The initial and ultimate stanza is of course a summation of life itself.
ReplyDeleteThank you Old Egg...I suppose a guidebook would be helpful (to me as well)..i vaguely remember my physics lessons and that life is like energy - maybe electricity- and energy can only be converted not stopped? Is that right..maybe i should call upon your engineering skills..
DeleteIf only all the bad things would go. The week has not been promising on that front.
ReplyDeleteNo - good point thank you J Cosmo...although in not leaving the house there is a consistency in what is bad..providing the sky doesn't fall in...or worse..
DeleteAll bad things do pass. I had a dream that the electricity was partly out, as if such a thing were possible, leaving the a/c running but the lights out. Now you have me thinking about electricity again. Sometimes it fits, sometimes not.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann - that's a good dream..and the right way around if it's a hot night ...I remember in school when the word 'brain storm' was changed to thought showers as it may have caused offence to people with epilepsy..it is disarmingly accurate when you experience people having seizures.. electricity fits and sometimes not..absolutely thank you
DeleteThere are electric things happening here. :D
ReplyDeleteThere certainly are..thanks Irene :)
DeleteWhen Alice comes to play, anything can happen--and it usually does!
ReplyDeleteTrue enough! Thank you Magical...when she arrives with a briefcase and a CV I will be truly scared however ;)
DeleteCan hear the buzzing and feel the fits and flits of electricity along with what is almost a mantra that "all bad things must go one day"
ReplyDeleteThank you Pearl...i think it is a kind of mantra..
DeleteLovely rhythm and word play. It makes me want to read it aloud, so I shall....
ReplyDeleteBerkeley, our pup, tilted his head this way and that. He enjoyed the repetition of sound.
Thank you! I am very pleased that you - and most importantly Berkeley - enjoyed the buzz...we are honoured... :)
DeleteWhat a image with the creature and especially, when electricity goes away....scary
ReplyDeleteIt can be scary it's true..thank you kindly humbird
DeleteShocking and unsettling, and a little something from column A and column B.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brenda..we always steal from both columns...we have nifty little hands ;)
Deletenot sure if the reply took.
ReplyDeletemy belly grows a magic forest O! how did you know?
does your forest have cliques of sunflowers amongst the angry ground?
More black spiders and lots and lots of cake...sunflowers sound like a far better gut lining! Thank you kindly Shauna
DeleteTwo things:
ReplyDeleteThe spider weaves colour
Writes tomorrow on the wall
We steal her web
Connive and thrive as if we are wise
And well inside
Did you know that the spider is a totem for the writer? In myth, Spider Woman wove the Universe from her own inner juices and the people found language "symbols" while tracking the course of her constellations.
A former roommate spent several days creating a profile of her own head and then drew lightning inside the skull. She titled the work "brain storm." The electricity really does fit, especially when working with words.
And of course a third:
Do you suppose that Alice is the lightning?
Elizabeth
I didn't know that about spiders although they seem to plague me..definitely stuck in my own universe..maybe happily so? Or am I just content waiting out the next move in the middle of the web..i like the idea of mapping the brain - was it like thoughts and dreams? Alice is the lightening..and the earth wire..if such things still exist...she needs to stay alive so flips the on switch when necessary ...thank you for untangling my head..as ever Elizabeth!
DeleteWhen viewed from an appropriate distance, spiders are quite interesting creatures. Their body is shaped like the symbol for infinity. They have eight legs that can take them in any direction they choose. They used to plague me as well. Then we had a conversation in which I told them they are free to go wherever they like, but my body is out of bounds. It seems to have worked as I have very few encounters with them. See them a lot as my apartment complex is built on sandy loam and they are everywhere, but leave my physical person alone. That is until I don't want to write, then they appear like magic, lol. My roommate suffered from DID and was trying to express what that felt like in her head at times. And I'm glad Alice knows where the switch is located. Hope this coming week is better...
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Thank you kindly Elizabeth..i think being clear with anything or anybody what is and isn't out of bounds is the trick to a happy co-existence...yes I am glad Alice knows that switch too..have a good week also
DeleteYour word play here is excellent, Jae. I love your Alice.
ReplyDeletePamela ox
Thank you very much Pamela...she is everyone's to share xo
