The room moves around me
Like
A bad dream
A bad sentence
No beginning
Middle
My hand sinks in the wall
End
The cat runs along the fence
It is marmalade and black
We are
Out
Hunting
Pulse
Anxious
To find
What I was left with
Face full of silver
Pocket full of burns
We read the empty wall
Like a devotion
A rapid succession
Of ups and downs
We prefer downs
When our bones are scrawny
And we can
Out
Run
We jump over the mattress
Tip toe through the vomit
Not much wonder in this land
On one side
A girl
On the other
We all have keys
But none of us
Belong
Outside
In the river house
My pupils are blown
Up
Big
Huge
That would be the powder
She whispers
At the railing
You do not say hello
Not
Now
We quietly pass
Our letters by.
Good strong imagery in your words-" My hand sinks in the wall
ReplyDeleteEnd" and
"Tip toe through the vomit". (I think I would keep my shoes on, and just walk around it though!)
We never take our boots off ;) thank you Robyn..

Maybe you just haven't found that right key for outside the one that makes you strong and happy with yourself and your future but it will happen.
Thank you Sheilagh..we will cross our fingers and hope for that day..
DeleteHoping you will be able to use those keys, Jae!!
ReplyDeletethank you Mary..one day..as soon as I find the right ones you, Tulip and basil can come for tea!
DeleteThey would enjoy that, Jae! Smiles.
DeleteIt is so easy and it is so hard and you know the girl is at the railing. Just remember the vomit and jump over it and be free, truly free. What a great picture you have painted again Jae.
ReplyDeleteThank you Old Egg..we have many years experience in vomit jumping..we'll be ok
DeleteA place where all are known to each other, but all are outsiders. Finding where you fit is the hard part. That's why those keys don't work right.
ReplyDeleteProbably true thank you Ann..maybe this will all become a bad dream..and reality will turn out to be better..in the right place
DeleteWhat a slap to find a face full of silver and pockets full of burns. But a lot of the time when the pupils are blown it doesn't really matter anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alice..thought I'd truffled those lines in..thanks for acknowledging them..but you're right about the pupils..can't fret over things you can't control!
DeleteBreaking a few rules is what it is all about, it's OK to go outside...tiptoing through the vomit, makes me think of a story from long ago, so keep the socks on, at least.
ReplyDeleteAlways..we break a lot of rules maybe that's why we stay inside! We will try tomorrow..thank you Annell x
