We crawl through the labyrinth of our thoughts
We are lost
Rely on chance
Have my back and I will keep yours safe
It's like a race she giggles
Slamming her feet on the stained floor
My head blasts
I suspect the link of change
That my sweet powder has been stolen from me
We remember stealing the bicycle and leaving the house
Now the link with the bad man is receding
It is scary not to hear his voice.
Now the link with the bad man is receding
ReplyDeleteIt is scary not to hear his voice.
Will he be hounding them without let-up. Yes, it is scary!

lovely thoughts, have my back, I'll have yours, Jae :) ladylee x
ReplyDeleteThat's comforting isn't it.. to know for sure that someone has your back...
ReplyDeleteThat awful feeling of not remembering and Alice is not the most reliable of friends. However let's hope you can find your way out the labyrinth Jae even if you have to crawl!
ReplyDeleteI get the sense of unresolved fears, and the need for comfort and security. These are feelings which many will relate to, and you convey them in your own unique way.
ReplyDeleteThe last two lines are terrifying. To know someone is bad and yet the sound of their voice offers comfort on some level (because its absence is a cause for fear, not relief) makes me wonder about the power the bad man's words hold.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when those fearful things leave us, we are left with an emptiness caused by what once was. I do hope that the labyrinth comes to an end.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back, Jae!
ReplyDeleteAlthough this is a very dark poem, I find a shining ray of light in this line: "Have my back and I will keep yours safe"
It tells me that strength and courage and hope can be found as we help each other. May it always be so for you and Alice.
Yes, life can be like a race. And sometimes everything gets mixed up.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an uneasy Sunday to me. Always good to read you, Jae. Take good care.
ReplyDeleteThis feels filled with foreboding...what a powerful write!
ReplyDeleteYou need to have each other's backs when lost. The 'link of change' seems worrying but it is good that the 'link with the bad man is receding' even if it is 'scary not to hear his voice'.
ReplyDeleteI felt the narrator was feeling a sense of letting go, as if detoxing from a substance or something else. That must be scary
ReplyDeleteWonderful opening line!
ReplyDeleteYour poetry has clarity; may it light your way out of the labyrinth.
Cool!

'We crawl through the labyrinth of our thoughts' ... a brilliant beginning and a stunning image on which to hang, what for me, is an intriguing piece that speaks to the groping, uneasy distress of proceeding.
ReplyDeleteVery deep Jae. Change, even if the change we desire, is often scary, takes away an odd sort of security of safeness.
ReplyDeleteI am glad Alice is there for you.
