The lines on my skin tell a story
Ones I think about myself
We pop the blisters in the bathroom
The only room that is safe from him
Alice ruffles her skirt and sits down beside me
All will be well she whispers
We can tell our own story
One without powder and dust
How we ache for that
I ache for that for you, too, my friend. Life is good, when it is plain and simple and clear. The lines do tell a story - of pain. I wish for you a story of peace. I love Alice telling you "all will be well." I repeat that to myself so often, especially when I see an eagle. Or a rainbow.
ReplyDeleteWell this is a heartbreaker Jae. Thank heavens she has Alice her 'alter ego" to help her through the difficult time.
ReplyDeleteThose lines do tell a story. And it's saddening to be told that all will be well time after time when it doesn't seem to be happening. I hope it does get better. This is heart-touching.
ReplyDelete-HA
This is sad and beautiful, yet a hint of hope rises in the dust. We all do have a our own story to tell. Yours is amazingly written Jae!!
ReplyDelete"We can tell our own story. . . " Alice promises, and I know she is right. That is the story of this poem, a story of freedom. I'm starting to love my lines. Are you?
ReplyDeleteA heart touching poem with a soothing part of Alice with the promise to show the truth, our true self
ReplyDelete"All will be well" has hope to live up to. We need it and it's important. Thank god there's Alice.
ReplyDeletetouching....peace and love!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Jae, a story without powder and dust. The line that stands out, makes the bathroom safe, is:
ReplyDelete'Alice ruffles her skirt and sits down beside me
All will be well she whispers'.
I love the stories we can tell ourselves, no veils, no partial glimpses... Just us. Our selves whole and bare (for us to see).
