Crescendo

The birds rattle blue blood
Teeth on edge
Standing in a honey crescendo
There is no point in the map
Nowhere to go
Gravity pins us down
Like crumbs stuck in a device
The loneliness of the shopping mall
Shatters time
A fine balance of loving and knowing
A standing wage
Our bare bones electrified
The birds rattle blue blood
Teeth on edge
Standing in a honey crescendo.

  1. The honeyed enticement and crescendo of noise comes over nicely in your poem Jae. Mind you for poets what a wealth of subjects I have had to write about!

  4. "crumbs stuck in a device"

Happens to me all the time! The keys on my keyboard stick because of crumbs!

I just had to laugh when I came across this line, Jae. Thanks for the levity, even if you didn't intend it.

  5. You have such a way with setting a mood. The words here paint a picture of nervousness, as little annoyances build up to a crescendo that holds no sweetness.

  7. I have been thinking of gravity, and how we talk about it...or not. How we show it in our work, and you have done it, with "pins."

  12. Life can get low....to this loneliness, to crumbs, our being out of balance....trying to maintain connections sometimes must be done in a more natural environment with those birds. I hope you are well my friend!

  13. Blue is the color of wisdom and knowledge, or perhaps the lack of it and longing for it. No matter how much we seek out that blue, there are those moments when we realize we may never have enough to make a difference.
