There is a war
It waves goodbye
We are lying on the bed
All the world a haphazard sign
We could be up or down
It barely matters any more
We memorize lines
Like bullets
Like his belt
Unspent
Loaded
Ready to explode
If only we could take a picture
She giggles
I remember everything
There is a war
It waves goodbye
I wish for morning time
And peace.

Great one that is inducing thought. There is war in every aspect of our lives?
ReplyDeleteI think so - thanks Rob
DeleteIf it doesn't seem true right now, I like to think "peace is on the way." Wonderful things are about to happen!!! The War is over! The flags are laid down, the arms, too. In this moment we are OK, nothing is happening.
ReplyDeleteThank you Annell I do hope so xo

ReplyDeleteAnd peace for both you and Alice.

DeleteIs there actually a point of indulging in war? No, not really!! Peace begins within each of our heart. May we all strive for it...

DeleteSleep is not always a safe haven of repose but often a time of conflict and fear as the brain teases, tempts and taunts you. I hope you don't have too many nightmares; perhaps cocoa at night would help!
ReplyDeleteWe will try that - thanks Old Egg
DeleteYeah...loaded and ready to explode. Hope soon the night ends. The closing lines are so prayerful.
