Mr Orinda

It touches my lips
I grin
I believe I believe I believe
This is evolution
This is the eight of diamonds
This is Mr Orinda
His mountain top cabin
The place where I stayed
Where I live
Where I am
Where he took me
Naked as J
Falling through a pack of cards
Watch the house come down
Find a wall take a seat hold onto the jumble thoughts a prize a curse a death squeeze it in your hands. Make a fist (if you can) cut up the punch and throw it
believe believe believe
Watch me do it again and again
trick after trick punch after punch nothing after nothing
ascend evolve adapt try
The more I do the less you see
You don’t hear time eat through me
Cover the holes with powder and dust wash it away with water
busy busy no eyes left for me
Move along sir there is nothing left to be.

  5. Always so much going on in your stories Jae. Is she a prisioner? Is she hiding from the world? There's a strong sense of self in here: "The place where I stayed/Where I live/
    Where I am". Wonderful stuff!

  6. How deep can we go? I Googled Mr. Orinda and found from the Kenyan parliamentary reports "...Mr. Orinda left Naivasha with nothing, not his children , not even his clothes. He left without anything." (later) "Mr. Orinda even married a young wife....we can pick up the pieces and move on"

Despite the despair in your work I always look for a a glimmer of hope. I found it but it was hard!

  9. Like Old Egg, I found the despair somewhat less despairing. So like Robert the Bruce's spider - try, try, try again. Complex but compelling writing Jae.

    ascend evolve adapt try -
    Watch me, watch me...
you hide layers within layers or just play with the words to confuse us - I am never quite sure. I felt like I fell through the looking glass with you here, going to the mountaintop and then falling as the house comes down, do it again and again...I believe.
    Move along, nothing to see.
    Plenty to read though :)

  18. Jae, the way you weave poetry is magic. Scary, visceral, beautiful as broken Tiffany. I am speechless. And you know that's a big thing for me to say. Amy
