I say
You are my light in the dark
My shining star
She settles back into my arms
She is light
Her hair smells like coconut
I smell of liquor and decline
Without you I would be lost
You give me direction
A purpose for being
Quite a load for one so young
But I am old she whispers
And I do feel her as a mother
Or a sister
It is a special relationship
One I will share on my own terms
Truth be told
Alice is my life
She saves me
And soothes me
She is the loudest voice in my head
I like that
She says
Because she likes to feel important
I cannot say more about her
She is my world
My dreams
My friend
Perhaps that is enough.
I sometimes wish I had an 'alter ego' someone that was my conscience to look out for me. However Alice has been your faithful friend for years in your writing and seems to be much more than that. Don't let her disappear not only for you but your readers as well!
ReplyDeleteYes ..it is more than enough. Beautiful loving poem.
ReplyDeleteEnough indeed, I would think; a blessing.
ReplyDeleteIt is more than enough <3
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute … but there is danger in someone becoming your world. If you lose them, you have no world.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for Alice. She is the loudest voice in your head, because she is the loving, hopeful, sweet essence of you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOne good friend will sustain you through the worst of times.
