How we long for the ocean
Sweet salty kisses on our toes
We can feel the tide
Gentle
Lapping
We could stay there forever
Dreaming
Sleeping
It is good to long for something
Even if it is outside our reach
Perhaps we will greet the shore again
Perhaps we won't
But at least we have the memory
The wind rustles our hair
Smells delicious
Like cinnamon
We trail along the tide line
Running
Skipping
Playing
It is good to be free
To have a longing
Is to have the sweetest pearl of thought
We savour every breath
Hope for more
Content for what we have
Our feet get wet
It feels good to feel the ocean
This longing keeps us alive
Far removed from sleep and dreams.
"It is good to long for something / Even if it is outside our reach" Aha...this is the beauty of life. Nice word pictures in every line.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad post Jae, almost nostalgic in its call that makes you feel alive.
ReplyDeleteYes, YES! I'll take the cinnamon, the pearl, the joy of getting the feet wet or at least remembering. Absolutely lovely!
ReplyDelete"...the sweetest pearl of thought" as the longing "Far removed from sleep and dreams." Beautiful lines delivered, thank you.

These lines are amazing. They bring back pleasant memories to me. they make me remember walking in the tide line, picking up sea glass, smelling the ocean. You have taken me to a wonderful memory. Thank you.
Jae Rose,
ReplyDeleteI love the kind of longing that can actually allow a dreamy escape. It's quite amazing how oceans and seas draw us closer to these places...
Not matter how far, it’s always worth reaching for something good.
