Cinnamon

Her hair is sweet like cinnamon
I gulp it up
Like our latest dosage of Risperdone
We plunge into the styx
Knock on the warden's door
He is busy
Watering flowers
Putting up trees
Stocking shelves
Tending carefully
We groan in lemon
Fixed to our bed
Drinking sweet elixir
Wishing we didn't
Such a strong urge to stop from calling
We scrabble in the sticks
Dreaming in onyx
Praying in stars
Today is heavy
We hope that tomorrow is lighter
I hold onto the scent of hair
Snuggle up and sleep
It is sweet
Intoxicating.

  1. Love this especially; "Dreaming in onyx/Praying in stars/Today is heavy/We hope that tomorrow is lighter."💖

  2. How gorgeous: "Her hair is sweet like cinnamon
    I gulp it up"

I am nuts over this line: "We groan in lemon"

    Also this: "Dreaming in onyx
    Praying in stars"

Beautiful closing --- those last four lines.

  3. My favourite part of this poem is the list of the warden's duties. You made very good use of the words - excellent descriptions throughout.

  6. The plunging into Styx really brought out the darkness, and the sense of being saved by falling to sleep.
