The cans rattle and shake
The smell is sulphur
We dream of shoes and pavements
It is hard to swallow
Her hands are blistered
Finger nails black
Teeth slimy
It is another day
Another treasure
We will hunt it out
All will be well.
The day as treasure, and hunting it out--For these to interest a narrator so in need of care is remarkable. It shows an innocent and loving heart. Such starkness here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad piece Jae. Might be best to leave your hunting expedition until after Easter as the streets and shops are really crowded right now and then you should find a few bargains on offer.
ReplyDeleteMay it be all well.
ReplyDeleteYes, may it all be well.......wishing you the treasure of peaceful days.
ReplyDeleteFinding our inner treasure can be a tedious, dirty job. But worth it. That treasure is there. All will be well.
ReplyDeleteYes, may it all be well, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOne huge treasure is your writing, Jae.
ReplyDeleteSome hunt for Easter eggs. some search for themselves.... I think every poem you find within you and share here is a true treasure.
ReplyDeleteI wonder does "shoes and pavement," include walking? That is kind of dreams I have, doing something over and over, always remain far from the finish line. xoxo
