A lesson of disbelief
A test
Our body waits in fury
Dirty and clear
Each inhalation a mission
It seems so clear in the palm of our hand
But it's a lie
Of that we know
Instead of war we will eat cake and blow up balloons
The Cheshire Cat taunts us but we shut the door
Keep away the bad men
Write our own story
We sleep beneath hoping and powder.
I'll go along with hope but powder less so. We always hope that something is better round the corner, or tomorrow when we wake up. The important thing is to try to enjoy each day and to grin back at that Cheshire cat! He shouldn't get all the laughs.

DeleteI love the hope......and recognize the truth in what feels right in the moment being a lie.......you are wise. I am all for cake and ballooms.......and writing your own story. It is always nice to read you, Jae.
ReplyDeleteAnd always good to read you too Sherry thank you
DeleteYes, I am for hoping, cake and balloon too against bad men, fury and lie.
ReplyDeleteYour wisdom shines through Jae.
ReplyDeleteWe may eat cake and blow up balloons - but the Cheshire Cat continues to grin. I think he knows humankind best...

DeleteThere is a despair and sadness as we wait in hope for the fear of the world to turn and you have captured those feelings beautifully...
ReplyDelete'A lesson of disbelief

Our only way through is indeed to 'write our own story'.
Donna@LivingFromHappiness
Thank you Donna
DeleteThe saving grace is writing your own story, and not letting someone else write it for you.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope - thanks magical

DeleteWe must hide from what we've become. It is so sad, yet when we can bring a breath of hope perhaps our doors will once again be cast wide open.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie
DeleteEating cake and blowing up balloons sounds like a plan!! Have a good week, Jae. Always glad to see your poetry!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary and wishing you a good week in return
DeleteBlowing up balloons instead of Parliament seems a good idea, but not that of excluding the cat. He is wiser than all!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite right! Thanks colonialist

DeleteThe interjection of the line 'Write our own story' is impactful - a pop of attitude, that that has your readers nodding 'YES'.
