Silence

Silence cocoons me like snow on a winter’s day

Keeping my ankles wrapped

Safe as walking through marshmallow

I like leaving behind a path of footprints -

As if I have truly been there

Not just silenced and cocooned inside my head -

But truly being.

  1. You're right, Jae, there is a quantum leap needed between thought and action.

  2. As much as I dislike snow, Jae, I love its silence and seeing a trail of footprints – the best ones are left by animals. You captured the feeling in the final lines.

  3. "I like leaving behind a path of footprints" I think we all wish to make our own tracks. Perhaps, words are your footprints in the journey.

  5. I am glad to say I am not well acquainted with snow (I hate the cold) – but pictures of it are pretty, and your poem conjures up some lovely images and ideas for me.
