The Hill of Hope

She takes my hand
There are many hills
To climb
Hope recedes
Happiness crawls away
We take the powder
All that is true
And real
October fades
Into winter
We will sleep
Dream and trip
Mother goes
Father stays
So many things
To forget and swallow
We will climb
The hill of hope
October ends soon
November will
Bring sparrows and magpies
Stars and clouds
The leaves fall
We will forever climb.

  1. "We will climb the hill of hope....November will bring sparrows and magpies...." I love those lines. I am weary from climbing too. But we can never give up.

  2. Yes, there are many hills to climb, and though happiness sometimes crawls away, one can continue to climb that hill! Nice to read you, Jae!

  3. Autumn tends to feel like a downgrade for everybody, but it always leads back to spring.

  9. Such hills are always hard to climb, but having an understanding soul to make the climb alongside us helps.

  11. A hand to hold always makes climbing up any slope much easier - don't let go! :-)

  13. Your poems often have an air of mystery, the unsaid ... "So many things to forget and swallow" especially poignant.
