I guess this is love
In a time of climate change
We can taste it on our tongues
Rich and crude
The essence of survival
We are standing by the sea
The waves crash against the rocks
Like heat
A kettle boiling
Just in time for tea
We will grow flowers
From seeds
Plant them in thick compost
Let them ripen
Create a rare habitat
A place where we can play
And dream
The world is changing
Sometimes it feels
That we can not keep up
Better to lie still
Watch the shadows play out
On the ceiling
The sun fading
The moon cropping up
I wonder how long we can survive
It all seems so tenuous
This love
In a climate change.
Watching shadows play out on my ceiling ~~ a beautiful pastime in these tenuous times. Cheers, Jae … wonderful write!
ReplyDeleteI think we all wonder that! And yet, there is always a place for love, I think, and the appreciation of beauty.

Gorgeous.
I would like to see the climate healing a little before I depart this world. Sadly, with all the greedy people and corporations doing what they will with little thought for the welfare of anyone else including the planet, I'm not hopeful.
ReplyDelete...and that's the purpose of winter ... to give us time to keep up!
ReplyDeleteAs you plant your flowers, you regain the hope of tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAt times, it's hard not to feel as if things are moving so fast that catching up is like someone else's dream.
ReplyDeleteI like the comparison of the uncomfortable global warming with the comforting image of a kettle boiling for tea. We will adjust and survive.
