Our hands shake blue
We are waiting for the cans
Hair pulled back
Thick cotton on our back
Sweat trickling
Head racing
We don't know what to do
All is quiet
And yet our brain rages
We are trapped in this cycle with no way out
We listen to the voices
They are loud now
Ice does not extinguish the flames of their being
Our hands shake blue
We are waiting for the cans.
The pain and confusion is so raw and palpable in your lines, Jae.
ReplyDeleteWhat sadness seeps through this Jae as those fateful words "We don't know what to do" overwhelm the reader who is helpless to assist. Sadly the cure is always less acceptable than the addiction.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be confusion in this write, "We don't know what to do". I hope the sky clears and the sun comes out to light the way. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI can feel the desperation...
ReplyDeleteI feel the agony in this. It is terrifying to placed in a situation where you don't know what action to take.
ReplyDeleteThe helplessness that is just giving way to the beginning of panic is vividly done.
ReplyDeleteAll is quiet
ReplyDeleteAnd yet our brain rages
We are trapped in this cycle with no way out
One often is at a loss not knowing what to do when utterly angry! Best to just walk away!
Hank
The terribleness of the trap is so vivid, I feel it too as I read.
ReplyDeleteThre is one way out but it is a very hard one and cannot be accomplished without help. I can feel the not knowing what to do clearly in this poem. Am thinking of you, my friend.
