There is only one window of colour tonight
We will dine on a belly full of stars
And scars
Hardly enough to feed the soul
I hear Alice
whisper
Down the hill
At home
I can kill time like a trooper
One hour
Sixty minutes
A pocket full of me
Building up
Building up
Speed
Purpose
Identity
I rustle in the pinching shoes
Every second
Eating me up
Inside
Outside
More toxic than the powder
Don’t think
Don’t look over the top
It’s to keep you safe
They say
Guard your health
I smile
Fuck you inside
You stole me
Consumed me
Burnt me down
Huff puff
Fragile as my house
My home
The lies and keys and ties notorious
Outside calm
Inside fiery
That’s the trick
I hear her
Keep going
Back up the hill
My little angel
Speaking through a string and tin can
Head down
Self down
Power down
Tick Tock
Time can kill me like a trooper.
I am immersed there !
ReplyDeleteGet out whilst you can! Thank you Sandra
DeleteAh, you right: time can be both: saver and killer - it's up to us what we believe in too. And your little voice - right: keep going! ~ Hopefully, Jae you will be at home soon :)x
ReplyDeleteYes...i hope so too...thank you humbird :)x

I think that is amazing
Thank you kindly george..
DeleteWait, wait--don't get it backwards! You are the time killer--say this to the tune of Dune's "Fear is the mind-killer." It is a litany against letting go. Brilliant poem again, Jae Rose. Using poems and blogs as windows expands my space a lot, more than those tin can connections I had once. I know, I know the hours passing one by one is each like the boulder of Sisyphus. According to the absurdist philosopher Camus, though, as long as the stone fell and needed pushing up again, Sisyphus knew all was right with the world.
ReplyDeleteYes - I remember that legend - keep your mind busy and time will pass...i am so pleased I have this window too...life would be far darker without it..particularly now..thank you Susan
DeleteThey can steal your time but they can't steal your mind. I hope you can go home soon.
ReplyDeleteI try and say that to myself but I think the trick to surviving this is forgetting who you are otherwise you mourn the loss of things (home) more...but no..they can't get in my head..thank you kindly Ann
Deletehang in there one true thing about time it passes and the future comes it's what we make of the future that counts
ReplyDeleteYes it does pass thank you Sheilagh - unfortunately here all a bit too slowly!
DeleteI think that Alice should find that bottle that says "Drink me" so she grows up and can be more help rather than skipping happily and leading you in trouble. You never know when those nasty queens will act.
ReplyDeleteYes..I think a grown up guardian would be more helpful in this instance...but she is old inside and solved many a puzzle in her time..thank you Old Egg
DeleteTime kills everyone. It kills troopers faster.
ReplyDeleteYes that's true (other) Alice...I don't envy them that...personal war and actual war...puts things in persepective

DeleteTick tock - those two words define intensity. an escape from the dark is much needed. you will be fine soon Jae :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Totomai...let's hope :)
DeleteYes focus on keep going!
ReplyDeleteAlways...thank you Helen
Deletelet this window be open forever...colors would pour in and time will be like a butterfly...all the lines are vibrant with power, could feel it....
DeleteThank you very much Sumana
