As if she is real
More real than the stench
Rotting under my coat
Like a red kiss stained gifted into us onto us
A dark door
We await delivery of our new pretties
Hoping they will work like a dream
It hurts my head
The anticipation
Intense intent insistent
But I've never felt anything
I have never been happy
You hate me
I keep you awake
Rubs her hands
Waiting waiting waiting
I think
Being awake
Or a body trapped in a mind
There you go
Awake awake like a petal in the morning sun
A cigarette burnt in the rain
Yes
Dead body
Dead mind
Play on the swing
You know that one under the tree where we will go
No matter what
No matter what
Underground
Dark
We await delivery of our new pretties
Hoping they will work like a treat
Rubs her hands
Waiting waiting waiting
Happy for a moment
Aren't we fancy
Just like cakes.
thank you to all who visit and comment...apologies for not getting around to posts and replies as i normally would...i haven't forgotten you...and will hopefully be back on track soon...
You are right on track on this one. A verbal puzzle, one could hours in your web or labyrinth. Perhaps the meaning of the 'nine' could be found numerology? What is fantasy what is not.
ReplyDeleteYes...Maybe I should look up nine....thank you Annell...I think I am a bit jammed in my labyrinth...
DeleteI apologize back for not commenting as often as I would like. My health issues have been a series of unfortunate events....Hang in there Jae.
ReplyDeleteI can empathise - thank you kindly for visiting Dee...hope your health is getting better too
DeleteA mind trapped in a body, or a body trapped in a mind? My first vote would be the former, but then I think how our beliefs can shape what we think our body can do or be, and I wonder. Maybe the new pretties can help. Maybe we all need them, and we all deserve to be fancy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann you have such clarity in unpicking my words...and yes..a little be of fancy and pretty never hurts
DeleteWe are all fancy in our own way, and meeting each other, holding hands, happy for the moment - why not? ~ love the line 'awake like a petal in the morning sun' ~ hugs
ReplyDeleteThank you humbird....glad you saw the bright bit! :)
DeleteThe mind is constant even in death .... Forever thinking
DeleteMaybe so...energy doesn't die...just converts...thank you pieceofpie
Deletetake some happiness.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheilagh xo
DeleteI so love the line "awake like a petal in the morning sun"....and the closing lines made me smile. "A cigarette burnt in the rain" is such a powerful image. Great write, Jae Rose.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry - I like that line Alice gave me too! It would be a pink cake with brown icing shaped like a bow x
DeleteThere are times when happiness comes like gasps of air. Oh to be enriched by good clean oxygen.
ReplyDeleteTake care!!!
Yes..a good deep breath is often what's needed..thank you kindly Moonie
Delete"A cigarette burnt in the rain"...a very passionate image Jae...
ReplyDeleteThank you Sumana
DeleteYour style is surreal, yet the narrative is grounded in real emotions. I enjoyed this very much.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Kerry
DeleteThere is such depth to your writing. I love the conversation of emotions, the questions with no answers. Makes me think. Thanks Jae Rose.
ReplyDeleteThank you too Myrna
DeleteOf course I looked for the tree and found it as a shelter with a swing. Trees seem to ignore the wars that keep our eyes open; they seem safe, places to wait. But they're no safer than the rest of us, and they have feelings, too. I love when you and Alice enjoy yourselves for a minute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan yes we like the short reprieve - I think it would be a nice stout apple tree with a rope swing with a worn down wooden seat big enough for two!
DeleteLove!
DeleteThere is something you don't have and that is a dead mind. It is alive and speaks beautifully full of evocative expressions of both sadness and hope. No matter what get stuck into those cakes!
ReplyDeleteThank you Old Egg...i wish it had a pause button (the mind that is...cakes ok)
DeleteYou live on the coast. What I would do would be to get a wet suit (a divers suit) and jump up and down in the waves before it gets too cold. I swear the sea cures everything...the reason I swim as much as I can.
DeleteIt's a thought thank you Rallentanda...may start with a hot bath first ;) thank you
DeleteSo powerful once again... hope you're okay.
ReplyDeleteThank you Laurie...hanging in there
DeleteTake your time. I'll just sit here swinging my feet and rubbing my hands.
ReplyDeleteJust the ticket thank you (other) Alice ;)
Deletebeautiful lines Jae... i like the way you bring the emotions into play..
ReplyDeleteThank you beautifully Arathi...
Deletegreat imagery!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra
DeleteVery well written, its quite a vivid yet disjointed world you created.
ReplyDeleteDisjointed is a good word for my world in general! Thank you GL
DeleteA very beautiful write jae! The line.."Awake awake like a petal in the morning sun.." is my fave. What a magnificent poet you are!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Panchali
DeleteAs long as one can swing under a tree, there is joy to be found. Good that Alice enjoys swinging too. I can see her swinging her feet.
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly Mary - it's the little white socks and patent leather shoes that help make her so real isn't it..... Xo
Deletebeautiful composition, have something which keep me hooked
ReplyDeleteNature's Plan
Thank you very much Cifar
