I press the wrong button
On the coffee machine
Back in the place
Where time wears me out
I could cry
There is no sugar
To help the powder down
To help the powder down
How far away the bench feels
My little line of hope
My little line of hope
Sat on the kitchen floor
Gagging at the feel
Of them
My little line of hope
Where do we go Alice
We are at the bottom of the well
When they think we are at the top
All is a mirror image
Reality stares me out
Pink eye
Blown up
Blown up
Head
Like feet to large to walk on
Sinking
Sinking
Into the immaculate fix
Hanging in the back like an axe
I should fear
But love
I have these words I need to say
But I can not
Cheshire Cat chews
Messes them up
So they are nothing
Not even sounds
Just say it
Fucking say it
The thing you need
Is what you fear
And yet inside
At the end of the potion bottle
You know it doesn’t exist
I drink the bitter coffee
Shake my head
Rub my leg
Now is the pain
Now is when it hurts.
would you believe i kept on repeating the first 5 lines? it's that powerful.
ReplyDeletehope you and Alice are doin' fine. the poem seems to be in a state of confusion, despair. hope i am wrong and everything's fine on your side :-)
Thank you Totomai..we are little confused and muddled up..but keeping on hoping.. :)
DeleteSo often it does seem like the thing you need is what you fear! Not always easy to face, but sometimes important to do so! We are having horribly cold weather here. Hope it is warmer for YOU!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary..keep warm..i have the flu so it cold be cold but feel hot as a steam engine.. :~
Delete(You don't have to publish this comment, Jae; but dVerse has an Alice in Wonderland prompt today...take a look....you often mention "Alice," so I thought you might be interested. http://dversepoets.com/2013/12/07/poetics-alice-and-advent-they-both-start-with-an-a/
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link Mary..we will do our best x
DeleteWell you certainly don't want flu as well as do the 15 rounds with the system. It is time to put the dreaming cap on and find the wonderland you crave; that could be the sweetener.
ReplyDeleteDreaming cap firmly applied..thank you Old Egg..is it only fifteen rounds..feels more like 150..groan..thank you for the sweetener advice
DeleteThis piece is down, but tomorrow is a new day, and the sun wll come out, you will find your way, that kitty, that Chershire cat, chews the words, tickle his tummy, and perhaps Alice will get a new dress for Christmas. xoxoxoxohugs
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice..I think she would like to try something sparkly with bows..thank you Annell x
