The slivers of bark settle in my hair
They are felling the trees
Cutting off the branches
It is a different kind of dust
That settles
Gently
In my hair
On my coat
I go to the board
It says I will give you rest
A rest from heading down hill
A softer fall of powder
The lesson for today
Carries the weight of my number
37
I am inside it
Watching the reflections
The freak show
Rattling around in potions and candles burning out
I go to her
I smell the wishes like vapours tangled up in the blue of her dress
She holds them tight
Like she holds his beautiful little arms and pure flesh tight
I love the blue
I love her
The one who holds me tight and still lights wishes
For me
I love her
The little black cat crosses paths with the crow
Like an unbalanced equation.
I touch the cat
The crow flies away.

Its beautifully poignant!
This is an unbelievably emotional piece of writing that brought tears to my eyes. It was as though the reader was doing a jigsaw and as each piece was fitted in this overwhelmingly beautiful picture of love emerged. Truly outstanding.
so beautiful you touched me deeply with this poem Jae.
Another gem :)
Very lyrical.
Jae,
The mood is lighter, brighter, more hopeful. I note a change in the essence and meaning of powder, as well as a shift in its appeal.
The lesson of the day seems to open new vistas, new realities and possibilities. Someone loves and is loved.
There is blue - gentle, inviting, warm, secure. Beauty, purity and light peek out... sweetly, almost shyly.
The final stanza? Magnificent! Two omens of good luck, each moving in different manners and directions. Either is a choice to live well, to prosper, to be happy.
And I am sure the one in blue loves you too!
I hope there are many who still light wishes for you. I know I do, Jae.
In my fiction, blue usually means something good. I hope it does for you, too.
I love the imagery of the cat and the crow. Sometimes animals tell us truths we won't find elsewhere.
Like an unbalanced equation is going to linger in my mind a while. I can already tell.
The ending is surprising but perfect. I like how the black contrasts with the blue. And I like how you pat the cat (accept the darkness) and also let the crow fly away (release some of your darkness). There is a nice softness to this poem.
Thank you for all your wishes and words..kindly..Jae ;)
I see a tiny sliver of ..hope. Maybe the tiniest piece yet but, it's there. A calmness, a beginning to care about oneself, and to cherish someone's love. I also see the change in thoughts about the powder, subtle yet, there. This has a certain serenity about it that until now, with barely a glimpse of it here and there at times, everything else I've read of your so far has been missing.
I hope one day to see that Jae has turned the corner and is free to fly, too.
Thank you Daydreamer..like a Jay Bird! I am glad there was some hope and calm..they are essential ingredients..Jae ;)
