We are small
Like two frail mice
Curiously prowling
Around the edges of
A maze
We sigh at dead ends
Places with dripping taps
And rusty doors
The orange glow
Of morning
Edging us on
Trying to entice us into being
A little more impetuous
The warmth of the sun
Penetrates our skin
Helps us move
Foot over foot
The maze is crude
But not simple enough
To solve quickly
Perhaps the pleasure is in
Exploring
Not solving
We look up
The sky is big and blue
We maybe small
Be we are a part of this world
Forever searching
Forever moving
Forever being us.
I love the shine of that sunshine, urging you forth into a brand new day, and especially love your closing lines. Day by day, we make our way through this beautiful world.
ReplyDeleteWell done. Surprisingly similar to mine..Ha. Inevitable, given these words.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly similar to mine. Ha. Not surprising, actually, given the words! I enjoyed yours.
ReplyDeleteI agree --- edging around and observing/studying, feeling warm, not entering but being privy to all the comings and goings, hearing the screams ... all of these are how a mouse should be --- off to the side, nibbling.
