There was another young girl
Who had magical red shoes
I tell Alice
She clicked them three times
And wished herself home
Sounds a little lazy
She says
Did she not have to solve puzzles
Yes I say
And she made friends along the way
Just like you
Hmm she ponders
I am quite happy with my
Shiny black shoes
There is quite enough adventure
And magic in the world
To need magical feet
And what would the Red Queen say
I think she would disapprove
I tell her
I am glad there is red
In the world
But I find blue more calming
And golden hair
She giggles
Nothing too bright and shiny
That hurts us
That is why we had to turn the
Red bed grey
We stay for a second in the silence
It is good to have a jolt of colour
But rather nice to sink back in the clouds.
I love the colours in this poem, and the comparison of shoes red and shiny black. I could see Alice! "Nice to sink back in the clouds" sounds peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI think you and Alice are right, that while 'It is good to have a jolt of colour' it is also 'rather nice to sink back in the clouds'. I too am glad there is red in the world, but prefer blue. And shiny black shoes are great!
ReplyDeleteHow serene the last two lines and how also true the earlier lines, and perfectly said … that IS why we turn the red bed grey. :)
ReplyDeleteNice play with the colour red in your poem Jae. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteMuch❤love
That's very nice. I love the thinking it was lazy to click her heels! Also, lovely line of sinking into the clouds.
ReplyDeleteYes, a bed like a grey cloud would seem easier to sink into than a bed like a hard red ruby or a squishy red tomato! Who knows how many other people you may be helping by explaining these things.
ReplyDeleteWhen you write 'she giggles' I can hear it. Well done, Jae.
ReplyDeleteThat last line, I love it!
