We must take care of our body
It is the only place
We have to live in
She whispers
I run my fingers
Over the scars
Over the damage and destruction
The years of pain
And chaos
It really is a body
Beyond recognition
Past its purpose
Slowly battling between
Life and death
She holds my hand
Her skin is soft
And creamy
We lie still
Thinking
Not thinking
Just being who we are
Who we will always be
Because we did not take care of our body
We wasted its youth
Damaged its future
But it made us who we are
Every cut and burn
And flurry of powder
Sculpted us into being
Perhaps that is just fine
She whispers
We snuggle up together
And close our tired eyes.
Having survived it all, it does feel "just fine" being who we are now. Every mark, a testimony to Keeping On. I always love reading you, Jae.
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting, for every scar a lesson learnt
ReplyDeleteGood Wednesday
Much❤love
Useless to regret the past; wonderful if we can thank it for having made us who we are and brought us to a place we like to be.
ReplyDeleteSophia Loren said she had earned every one of her wrinkles:)
ReplyDeleteIn the end, that is all which matters: that we embrace all our bodies helped us become.
ReplyDelete"Just being who we are, who we will always be" I love that. Long after the body has deteriorated we still live on...this isn't our final form
ReplyDeleteNighty-night!

ReplyDeleteThe words “wasted youth” stand out for me ~~ they are the future .. we need them hale and hearty.
ReplyDeleteJust being who you are is just fine.
