We were not surprised
When we fell down the hole
It was as easy as tripping off a kerb
Pleasant
Like the middle of a dream
When you sink into the bed
Wrapped up and closeted
Nobody saw us disappear
Come to think of it
No one saw us return
It was quite the adventure
In between
She giggles
Talking to herself
And me
Which is better
She asks
Knowing what will come
Or being kept in the dark
Perhaps you can't have one
Without the other
I reply
It is like patterns
Following the lines
To the edge of the page
Sizing up what things will come
And discovering
Those which are surprises
She claps her hands in glee
I think we are ready
For another adventure
We smile at each other
And skip and trip
Forever onwards.
Interesting idea: 'Perhaps you can't have one / Without the other'. In any case, 'Forever onwards' is surely the only way to go!

there is despite her giggles a sadness here

much love...
Ah, the choice between the knowing and the dark -- a difficult decision!
ReplyDeleteLovely. A gentle jigsaw, beginnings and endings.
ReplyDeleteHow good it has been over the years to read of the you and Alice's wonderland. I think we all need a fantasy to lift us up to exist in this strange world.

This is more common than you think. We live in a brutally selfish world. You and Alice keep dancing in your matching tap shoes and have fun. Take care Jae!
