Am I arrogant
She asks
No little Cricket
You are confident
There's a difference
She gazes into the distance
For just one moment
Then speaks
So when you are confident
You believe in yourself
When you are arrogant
You believe you are better than
Everyone else
Just so
We both exhale
Perhaps at times it pays to believe
You are better
Believing in yourself only gets you so far
But makes you kinder
She whispers
We lie down and rub our tummies
Full of sugar and milk
The day is drawing to a close
We do not need to speak
To know if it was a good
Or a bad day
It just was
As they all just are
Time spiralling
Thoughts wandering
Bodies aching and sore.
I love Alice's whisper "But makes you kinder." I, too, am watching days go by that are just days....nothing happening, but restful, calm, and enough.

ReplyDeleteSometimes the being is enough we need not overthink it
Happy Wednesday Jae
much❤love
Nice distinction between arrogance and confidence!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy each day you have as best you can otherwise life will seem cruel or bofing to you. Mind you writing is a wonderful hobby and we all love that!
ReplyDeleteThis is exquisite ......
ReplyDeleteThinking one is better is a passive way of declaring all else to be of lesser value, and in that, releasing yourself of any true responsibility to be trjly caring or concerned for the well being of the lesser world that surrounds you. Dangerous and deadly! If you feel you have been given more talent, ability, intelligence — that just means you’ve been given more responsibility to serve with that which you have been given, using that as the manner you step in to help maintain the sacred balance… it most certainly does not mean you are better, or more deserving. An apparently difficult concept for the “supposedly superior” human mind to grasp, and one that comes without thought to the rest of the natural world. Ironic isn’t it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, it's the kindness that counts. Alice is so smart and practical.
