Our love is not fleeting
Or frail
It dances wildly
Like motes on a summer breeze
I am never lonely
When I am with her
She does not leave me
Feeling empty
The candle flame drifts
In our eyes
Makes them shine deep blue
Sometimes things feel helpless
And endless
It chokes us like a
Cotton dress buttoned up
Too tightly
It does not seem to matter
Anymore
What we are seeking
It is more like a ride
She whispers
A wonderful trail
Of bicycle wheels
Turning smoothly
In the night
Leaving patterns in the earth
Making our bodies move
And sway
A gentle rhythm
And a quiet prayer
A permanence which brings
Comfort and stability
Of that I am glad.
"It does not matter any more what we are seeking. It is more like a ride." That line really resonates - that is the turning point on our journey, I think, when we stop trying to steer the ship, and simply enjoy the voyage. Smiles. I especially like "Our love dances wildly."
ReplyDeleteThis is really a beautiful piece of writing Jae...One of your best!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yes, and with a lovely feeling of rightness (for want of a better word). Although they are very different t poems,I get a sense of fellow-feeling with the one I’m sharing today.
ReplyDeleteLovely piece of writing. I like the flow of your words.
ReplyDeleteNice one. Happy Sunday
ReplyDeleteMuch❤love
I mentioned dust motes in my poem as well. I identify with the bicycle wheels soothing tones. Before my knees "gave out" I used to enjoy evening bicycle rides immensely. I miss them.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great poem. I love how you focus on the journey in this poem. Love really is about the journey, not the destination.
ReplyDeleteIn this world of temporariness 'A permanence which brings
ReplyDeleteComfort and stability
Of that I am glad' is true.
