Home Front

We open the lock
On the front door
We believe it is our own home
Sometimes we dream
We have no home
A silent tragedy
Fading into the stars
A place we have
Almost come near to
Many a time
We switch on the blue light
Blue makes us calm
Like her dress
Soft as clouds
Cool as raindrops
Our head dizzy
Full of stories
Father told us
So far away
Yet tucked in our blood cells
The very heart of who we are
We look out of the window
There are birds nesting in the trees
Flowers waiting to bloom
The wind speaks in whispers
You are home
You are home
It is a prayer we believe
A place we can trust.

  1. I LOVE this! One of my favourites. The nesting birds, the spring buds, the wind speaking in whispers....and "you are home. You are home." Just beautiful.

  2. Yes this is another great piece of writing Jae. I re-read it a number of times and I realised that was because of your beautiful use of adjectives in all your work.

  4. I think a blue dress is perfect for Alice. Good to have a place one can trust; that must indeed be the definition of home.

  6. Home. The aboriginals in Australia call it their "belonging place" and it fits so well."The very heart of who we are" .

  7. I too loved this--we all need that place of refuge where we feel safe--

  8. Yes, home is the safest place that shelters us. Well-worded poem.
