Stars

We are breaking up radio waves
In the bathroom
They fall
Like stars
We catch them
Put them in our pocket

At seven we will eat chocolate with a spoon

It took us so long to join the dots
That now we are too tired to eat them
Tell me about it says Alice
Wiping sugar off her tongue
Her eyes drowsy and thick

My throat burns at the memory
Of that powder
Mixed up like magic
Waiting to perform

A thousand years gone
A thousand still to come

They will pass as quickly as a penny dropping
Alice whispers from on high

Down she falls like a snag
After rabbit
Joins me in that dream
The one where we are sniffing cocoa and powder
Inside the white walls
Buried in light
Like it was a choice
A kind of glass reform
Help me
Help me
She wails and mocks
I tell her not to talk
Panic sweat look laugh
She always brings me to the ground

The dragon turns tricks at the bus station
He has a hat on
But is still a little scary
Yellowed and soft
Crooked teeth waiting to bite
Take a slice

He confuses us

An eye lash waits on the tea pot
We coat it in sugar
Swallow it down
Please don’t leave us magic

We are breaking up radio waves
In the bathroom
They fall
Like stars
We catch them
Put them in our pocket.

  3. It does take a long time to connect the dots, but that's okay. It takes everyone a long time, and some never accomplish it at all. Besides, we don't all get the same dots. Maybe you had a few extra.

  4. I still hold out hope that one day I can pull an Alice. Maybe that's what it feels like to die, like going down the rabbit hole into a new and different realm of existence. I enjoyed the magic and mystery of this piece.

    1. Maybe so Cara - but let's not test it out just yet...plenty of fun to be had above ground and visiting the underground in words and thoughts alone...as long as we can pop up for air of course - thank you kindly - and for the add!

  5. Well I don't think you will lose the magic in your writing Jae. It is quite mesmerizing, mainly because there is that element of danger in your (plural incl. Alice) situation. It is as though life's journey has so many obstacles that your readers don't meet themselves. Alice however seems very laid back!

    1. Thank you kindly Old Egg.. I think Alice has been here many times before...poor little one..I suspect she is tried of magic and powder and just wants to go back through the mirror to Snowdrop and Kitty...familiarity and confidence that some degree of normality will eventually come about must make for a laid back 'tude...thank you and magical best wishes back

One often yearns to discover what holds true for us. To dream of lots of uncanny happenings can make them come true sometimes. They work in strange ways! Great lines Jae!
