I stand in the kitchen
With my eyes
Shut
In my place
But not
In my place
I have run out of soldier's blood
It drips
Red
To the end
Of my finger
Tips
I clean
Up
Up
I clean
To reclaim
What is
Loss
Empty
Powder
Dust
Mine
Stomach blown
Eyes
Full
drip drip drip
Possibility
Bed
No phone
End of sheet
Red
Possibility
I keep one week
One week of red
Not to stand up
Up
To
You
But quietly
Shh
For me
I write our prayer in pencil
For you
Dry
Run out
Red
Like
Old blood
Strong blood
Soldier blood
Our blood.
Bold. Stark. Linear. Sad. Strong. Direct.
ReplyDeleteThank. You. Kim.
DeleteAnd happy new year. i hope thirteen is a good scribbling year..a good life year even..
A prayer written in pencil is good, I think, as it can be changed as the situation warrants.
ReplyDeleteBut I get a bit queasy at the sight of blood.
Happy New Year to you, Jae.
Thank you Mary..wishing you a good year also. Pencil is very satisfying..always makes me think of Lilibeth's site..(Why Use Pen)..as for blood..maybe it's best to stick to red colouring pencils.. x
DeleteHang in there Miss Jae, your daggers are getting thinner and my ink blot is getting fatter, both mean the same destructive thing, but maybe we can hang in, tune in, there are so many behind us, if we can’t ride well-wishers’ waves, maybe we can ride some kind of universal waves to an alright shore if not a bright one…
ReplyDeleteAn alright shore is a steadier shore than a bright one..longer lasting..holding your hand and docking there with you..if only for a minute..we must always hang on..we must we must.. x
DeleteNow this is a different style of writing for you. You open your heart and hurt and longing burst forth. There is so much love exposed.
ReplyDeleteThank you OldEgg..i am glad you feel love tangled up in here..i guess it is in there..buried deep..deeper than shovel and elbow grease deep...happy another year of scribbling to you..
DeleteAfter that, what is there to wish for but an unstaunched new year...
ReplyDeleteThank you Berowne..hopefully a steady flow of words will pour out of 2013..and more quizzes..
DeleteI like the prayer pencil. I could use one. Happy New Year, Jae! May it be a blessed year for you.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too Belva..the prayer pencil was in the church..maybe they are waiting to be found..
DeleteCleansing, possibility, resting. Perhaps the old red of an old year is bleeding away to make room for the new red of a new year?
ReplyDeleteThat is a cheering thought..thank you very much Abigail..
