Sounds like you are more than ready to leave that place. Haunting how you refer to yourself as just J when you are there...just a small portion of yourself. Soon you will be Jae, again, out smelling the roses! (Pun intended!) There is such strength in your words!
There are two people in room 23. One of them can stay to do what is needed and the other is free to go to the other side of the world if she wants where the sun is shining and there are no pressures but there is a lot of laughter. I am certain that Jae will win, her writing always does.

We are who we are because our past has bought us to this present place, but, we don't stand still nor occupy this space for too long, because changes happen whether we invite them to or not and change happens no matter what we do. Your past has shaped you but, it hasn't made Your writing never ceases to amaze, and yes, you poured yourself into this piece but, if there are two people occupying room 23, the creative person is winning this battle with painting pictures with her words. What an artist.

You are not room 23, but stripped down to just a room it has to be scary to meet yourself with none of the "stuff" of life to keep busy and hide behind. I am so pulling for you! Praying that you will walk through this valley and find yourself in sunlight on the other side!
Wow, that is quite powerful and daunting. Your piece makes you seem as if you are an animal pacing, a creative powerhouse ready to pounce on the next wayward idea instead of a small observation box.
