Landscape

I stand by the window

The sun is rising and the birds are singing

Cotton wool clouds pass by

I imagine they tase like sugar

Big, juicy bundles of cotton candy

As sweet as marshmallow

The thought makes me feel full inside

Like it is worth staying another day

I would like to walk over grass again - climb a tor, see the sea

I wonder how that would feel - if it would be painful walk backwards

Perhaps finding different places of safety is like moving on

Keeping the few happy memories of youth alive in my mind

I am always moving inside - escaping, surviving

But I am trying to absorb myself in the landscape I have for now

Perhaps even thinking of a world outside and beyond is a start

More fulfilling than powders and pills

I leave my curtains open and wait for a buttery sunrise

I hope it embraces me and makes me feel safe.

Landscape

Even when I stay indoors

There is still a world to see

Moving clouds

Peachy skies

Leaves falling from trees

In the distance are fields

The grass looks pillowy and soft

Welcoming to afternoon naps

In the sunshine

With strawberries and cream

She declares

Her body small

But her soul fierce beside me

Sometimes we fall

But together we find our feet again

Carry on our adventure

Playing chess and croquet

Watching Rabbit’s bobtail fluff up and down

Bouncing on before us

Sometimes the world is full of colour

Other times it is black and white

I have learnt to tolerate both

They are a measure of how things

Twist and turn inside

After our adventures

We find ourselves on solid ground

Underneath the willow tree

Back in time for a second tea

I look out on a landscape

One of growth and hope

Keep my eyes and heart open

Make myself ready to belong.

Landscape

Home soon
She whispers
We are walking in the rain
I gave her a rainbow coat
It makes her even more magical
A guiding light
I feel her tiny fingers
Resting in the palm
Of my hand
There is not much to see
Graffiti walls
(Messages)
Clouds
Shopping carts
Abandoned in the street
Birdseed on the path
Makes us slip and slide
She thinks it is fun
I worry about breaking
The consequence of age
We could find our way home
With our eyes closed
She giggles
I look down at her
Her pupils are as big as moons
Alive
Speeding
Not wanting to stop
Electricity pours through her skin
Into mine
A perfect friction
Every morning we walk like this
Thinking
Every morning
So far
We are alive
We turn the key
Walk up the stairs
Shake off our wet clothes
Sink into each others bodies
Home
We whisper together.
