We rest our head on the pillow
It is soft
The constant voices rattle in our thoughts
He is watching
Wishing me peace
Hoping for something better
We dust ourselves down
Walk in circles
Marvel at the lights
The adventure starts here
We see signs and symbols
White mice
And purple men
The buildings crumble
We catch the rubble in our hands
Soak in the hot water
Time aches like a broken tooth
We sink back into nothing
Hope for more
The dust gathers around us
We mop it up
Wait for the second hand to move
Always waiting
Always wishing for peace on Earth.
This is beautiful poem Jae. May you have a peaceful Christmas and your New Year full of words for us to read.
ReplyDeleteDusting--something I can definitely relate to. It would be great if Peace on Earth meant much less dusting, less waiting. Bless your heart, Jae!
ReplyDeleteThe description of time aching like a broken tooth is quite striking. The hurts that humans inflict on each other can be bone deep.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hopes, and dreams of peace!! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why, but the "He is watching" feels beyond eerie...
ReplyDelete"Time aches like a broken tooth" is such a poignant image!💞
ReplyDeleteYes, always wishing for peace on earth. With so many of us wishing, why is it not happening? I love Christmas lights best of all, it is my favourite thing this time of year. Do you have some in your room? I have mine on to brighten up the grey afternoon and the evening. Yes, hope for more, my friend. There is so much more! And you deserve it all.
ReplyDelete... willing the second hand to move faster.
ReplyDeleteyes like the characters in your drama of crumbling worlds. that wish for peace must not fail

Always wishing for peace on Earth.,......... fantastic!!!!
When the world is in the grip of 'purple man' what we can do best is pray for peace on earth. Beautiful.
ReplyDelete“Time aches like a broken tooth.” And we keep waiting, and waiting for relief. Excellent poem, Jae!
