Cold

We turn our collar to the cold
Huddle under the valley
A dome of bones
We keep playing
Eating stars
Glowing inside
We will find the end
This limber winter love
The cold doesn't bother us
As long as we keep moving
Shoes wearing down
A song in our head
A man in our dreams
How do we stop the voice from calling
We can't silly
He is telling us what to do
We turn our collar to the winter night.

  1. A song in our head and a man in our dreams........that sounds happy. Keep warm, my friend.

  2. This a an enigmatic piece Jae as I automatically started waving a red flag for warning with someone telling you (or the character) what to do rather thn makingup your/their own minds. Luckily the last line saw an apparent rejection.

  3. This poem made me feel the cold of winter, Jae, with its ‘dome of bones’ and the eating of stars – I imagine they must taste of ice.

  6. It seems one has to adjust to the cold times. Winter is temporary. Spring and warmth is right around the corner.

  9. The cold of winter... we just have to keep moving... hope that you reach a warm place in the end before the soles wear down.

  11. I have come to count on the presence of the voice--a part of me (male or female)--so much so that I am surprised when it is absent. And there are few places I feel so whole that I let God come through me--maybe directing a show, teaching something passionate, worshiping with Quakers. It takes lots of energy to have it be my own voice, though, not some internalized oppressor! Have a fine turning of the year .

  12. I think this one is particularly beautiful.
If winter and cold must come, I'd like to eat stars and glow inside!
