We sit underneath the tree
Words precious in our hands
Take wing
Fly
Daylight makes us drunk
We fast forward
Look inside
Find our limits
Spray upon the ridge of dreams
If we could go anywhere it would be in poems
Glass and salt
The sight of the park makes us smile
We spring forward like a fire
Sometimes our flight is like a map
Other times it's spacious
Money buys the shack
Thought buys the power
We drag forward towards the hearth
Sit underneath the tree and dream.
I like the contrasts in this poem, Jae, between sitting under a tree and flying, and between glass and salt. I also like the way it begins and ends with sitting underneath the tree, for me a perfect place to sit and let your words take wing. I also like the lines:
ReplyDelete‘Daylight makes us drunk
We fast forward
Look inside
Find our limits
Spray upon the ridge of dreams’.
Poems are my favorite place to go too. There's nothing quite like them, is there?
ReplyDeleteEven as a kid I had great pleasure sitting under and even climbing trees and dreaming of course. However being a boy I also fell out of a tree once but I think the tree pushed me out! Thank you Jae for taking me back a few years.
ReplyDelete"If we could go anywhere it would be in poems." This speaks to me, as my life is a bit circumscribed, given my teetery legs, yet I travel the world sharing poems with my friends. Sending you tulips this day, Jae.
ReplyDeleteI like the comparison between money and and thought, which is shown to be more powerful. And I really love the ending--so many good things can happen, under a tree.
ReplyDeleteIf you have poems, you can always find your way
ReplyDeleteThat Was Very Nice. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. What could be better than to sit under a tree and dream, drunk on daylight, while the words take wing and fly?!
ReplyDeleteContemplation under the tree - what a wonderful feeling - letting the mind soar! Lovely.
ReplyDeletecute lines.
ReplyDeleteThis is so dreamy, Jae. I love it.
